Our Gamer Series Memory combined with our Radeon™ RAMDisk software offer unparalleled performance to your gaming experience.
Radeon™ RAMDisk Versus Other Storage Devices
Whether you have a hard drive or an SSD, your computer's RAM is its fastest storage medium by a wide margin. If you have at least 4GB of memory, you can use this speed to your advantage, turning some of it into a small RAMDisk. This disk will appear to Windows as a fully functional storage drive that's ready to hold your most frequently used applications and launch them with lightning speed!
AMD Radeon™ RAMDisk is designed to work with any AMD- or Intel-based platform with at least 512MB RAM and can be created using system RAM not already assigned to the O/S. Although RAMDisk is software, Windows Management treats it as a Hard Disk Drive. There is a chance that the disk may become fragmented much like a hard disk, however the performance issues are less than if a physical hard disk were to become fragmented. AMD plans to provide AMD Radeon™ RAMDisk support to future generation system memory specifications. AMD Radeon™ RAMDisk requires a minimum of 1GB of system memory for installation (minimum 4GB of RAM recommended for RAMDisk creation). 1Memory profiles are designed to boost system performance with preset memory profiles. AMP profiles are only available on supported AMD platforms and XMP profiles are only available on supported Intel platforms. The motherboard and the DDR3 memory module must be AMP- or XMP-enabled in order to download preset profiles. Check with motherboard manufacturer and system memory manufacturer to see if AMP or XMP are enabled.
2Test conducted in AMD Labs using a timer to measure PC boot and shutdown times when RAMDisk is running using a licensed AMD Radeon™ RAMDisk (32GB/64GB) Version 4.1 versus 4.0. Version 4.1 booted at 81 secs and shut down in 23 secs. Version 4.0 booted in 256 secs and shut down in 525 secs. “Load in Background” and “Background’” was enabled with Version 4.1. Specifications: Intel i7 930, Asus P6TD motherboard, 24GB DDR3-1866 AMD Radeon™ Performance Series Memory, Windows 8 RTM 64 bit. RMD-25
